Week 11

This past week we do not do a lot of work towards our project, or any realistically. It was Spring Break and was a well deserved week of not doing any work. Although, I will say I was still stressed about the work I was not doing, but I think stressed is just part of my personality now. We discussed as a group when to schedule our final competition. We had originally planned on doing it this week but that ended up not working out with scheduling. Instead, we will, hopefully, be doing it next week, at the latest. I am excited for the competition but have become a bit worried by the time crunch. Once we get all of our video together, it will be interesting to pull together our website, too.

I read the comments from our Preliminary Content Submission and had not considered the difficulties of implementing a voting system on the website.  Some of our ideas for the website may not be doable in the time and skills we have so we might need to revise some of the more far fetched goals. I am looking forward to pulling it all together.

Week 11 Blog

In this week, we didn’t do so many things together as a group. We had our spring break this week, and I really got a good time to relax and started to think about our final competition in this week. In this week, we didn’t meet outside of the class, because our preliminary work has been accomplished. After this week, we need to start to figure out the time and the place of the final competition. I can’t wait to start the final competition. I think it will be super fun to shoot the whole competition. During the spring break, I start to think about some details of the shooting; Do we need to find a nice place to put the camera so that it could be able to shoot all of us in one time or Could we just find a friend to help us record the whole process. The other problem that we will face is the reception when we are recording. We need to find a nice microphone for everyone because we need to make sure everyone’s voices could be recorded. All in all, I extremely expect for the final competition, and I believe it will be so fun!

Week 11

For this week I did not do much to be honest. With it being spring break, we all took a week off basically and just tied up some loose ends if we needed to. We are currently scheduling the day for us to host our competition. I am honestly super excited for the competition it will be a lot of fun setting up the filming. I did spend some time over break thinking about everything we will need to film the competition. The hardest part will be getting enough mics on everyone as we film. If we are not able to do that, we will need to hope the mics on the camera or good enough to pick up voices not too far away from them. I figured we would set the people with the mics far away from the camera and the others closer to try and be safe. The longest part of the post process will be syncing up all the audio to the video. It shouldn’t be too hard to do as long as we make a loud clap before anything starts so we have a big spike in audio to judge off of. Hopefully we are able to film it within the next week.

Week 10

This week continued the presentations of the interactive analysis projects in class. This meant that again we did not meet during class time. We also didn’t feel the need to meet outside of class time as al of our preliminary work has been accomplished. Although, spring break has made the rest of the semester seem much shorter. Therefore, we have plans to do the competition itself the week after the break. During the break we will need to find a proper setting for the competition, but make in fact make the cakes separately and do the competition in a study room or something similar. As well, we need to finalize our plans on the types of footage we want from the competition and if we will have multiple cameras, someone who isn’t competing, etc. It will be interesting to see how our preparation, or lack thereof, plays out in the actual competition. I don’t have high hopes fo myself, but, honestly, I don’t think anyone else does either.

Week 10 Blog

In this week, we had the last presentation day for the Interactive project. We didn’t do so many things as a group due to the spring break. During the spring break, we might not work for the group project, because most of us will leave Lincoln and take a trip. After spring break, we will continue working as a group and do the practice competition as soon as possible. After that, we will complete our final competition and start working on the website. For the practice and final competition, I will take photos for everyone and these photos could be used in the introduction of the website. We are also going to shoot some footage during the two competition. In addition, we will figure out the more specific role of everyone when we begin to build our own website. During the spring break, my friend will bake her own cake. I am going to watch when she is baking and learn more about decorating cakes from her. I believe that I will be more professional after I watch it, and I might win in the final competition. I am really looking forward to this final competition, I believe it will be fun!

WEEK 10

This week we are not doing much as a group. With spring break happening this week we are just taking a break from the project really. I am leaving the state for spring break so the only thing I could do would be remote work. The week after we get back from spring break we are going to try and set up our competition. After we get the competition filmed, we are going to figure out everyone specific role on the website.

While over spring break I do plan on watching more YouTube videos about cake decorating. I started off watching Tasty 101’s video called “Five beautiful ways to decorate a cake.” After that I watched some more compilation videos. I like those videos because you can see a lot of different ways to decorate a cake pretty fast. I have been getting a lot of good ideas for my cake and I think I might be able to run away with the trophy. I am pretty excited for the competition just to see what everyone does. The thing that will make our project good is the personality of the competitors coming out in the videos and bio pieces. With everyone writing up their own bio piece it could be really entertaining.

Week 9 Blog

In this week, we didn’t do so much work together. We finished the preliminary content submission and turned it into Canvas. For the preliminary content assignment, we divided some part to each group members, I did the project overview and the member preparation of my part last week. This week, we put all the information and content together in the google docs that we created together in last week, and someone turned it into Canvas.
For next week, the most important thing that we need to do is to figure out when we could do the practice competition together. Also, we need to do some preparation for the final competition. We need to figure out what material we will buy for the final competition, what time are available for all of us, and where we can do this competition together in the next three weeks. We need to finish this quickly so that we will have enough time to edit these videos and footages. If we finished these steps early, we could also leave more time for us to build our website. During the spring break, we will do more things for our group project and hope everything will be ok.
